An interview with Carbon Neutral

For many years, we have been investing in carbon offsetting our business; by either contributing to projects run in our community, ticking the 'carbon offset' box on any tour or transport we take, planting trees on our own project (see our story here) or using companies like Carbon Neutral to ensure we are compliant.

Carbon Neutral was established in the early 2000's and we have woven a relationship with them stretching back to the early years, prior to us purchasing our property in Dumbleyung.

Our Dumbleyung property is near the Gondwana Link project (A future post), so any plantings we do contribute to creating a corridor between the South west corner and Kalgoorlie. The Carbon Neutral project that is of most interest, and why we are meeting with Joe today is the Wilyun Pools project. It is around 100km East of Albany and is a biodiverse reforestation project that aligns with the values that led to us choosing to purchase land and plant trees ourselves.

Joe is the Partnerships Manager at Carbon Neutral and was happy to chat with us about how we could spread the message; we hope this post gives you incentive to offset your next holiday (or a tree or three makes a great present for the person who has everything!).

Thank you for your time today I wanted to send a quick email to recap the highlights of our meeting today regarding the Wilyun Pools Project. It was great to connect and discuss the contribution your tourism company can make towards conservation efforts.

First and foremost, I'd like to emphasise the significance of the Wilyun Pools biodiverse reforestation carbon offsetting project. This initiative aims to preserve the natural beauty and biodiversity of Wilyun Pools, ensuring its sustainability for future generations. By participating in this project, we have the opportunity to make a positive impact on the environment and support the delicate ecosystem of Wilyun Pools.

The purchase of trees, plants and shrubs plays a vital role in the preservation of Wilyun Pools. Trees help maintain the ecological balance, provide habitats for wildlife, and combat climate change. By enabling your customers to purchase trees, your company actively engages them in environmental conservation and fosters a sense of shared responsibility.

I'm excited about the positive impact we can create together through this collaboration. By encouraging your customers to purchase help us plant trees or offset their emissions, we contribute to the long-term preservation of Wilyun Pools while offering them an opportunity to be a part of this meaningful project.

*Technically most grasses don't sequester (much) carbon, although Wilyun Pools is rich with grasses that we need to conserve for biodiversity reasons.
